Building permits are typically issued in as little as five days and rarely beyond ten..

Utility Infrastructure

The city offers:

  • electricity

Fairburn partners with its wholesale power supplier, MEAG Power, to provide competitive electric rates for business and industry.

  • water and sewer services

Fairburn is ensuring ample water is available as the city grows. A new reservoir is in the permitting process with a potential of 16.4 millions of gallons daily.

Green Initiatives

  • Fairburn is the recipient of the Atlanta Regional Commission 2009 Green Communities Program Bronze Award for practices leading to sustainable municipal operations and demonstrating a willingess to incentivize LEED* projects in the community.
  • Fairburn has authorized expedited plan reviews and permitting for LEED projects and encourages new developments to seek these certifications.
  • Should an industry wish to purchase green power generated from renewable sources, Fairburn Utilities can make that option available through its partnership with MEAG Power.
  • Fairburn can be your source for mitigation credits for any stream or wetland impacts in the Upper Flint basin through a mitigation banking process. The first credit release is anticipated in fourth quarter 2010, authorizing up to 15,000 stream and approximately 15 wetland credits.

Mitigation banks allow a developer to maximize the use of a site. Mitigation bank credits decrease permitting time and the regulatory burden and risk is passed from the developer to the mitigation bank.

* LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a certification program by the U.S. Green Building Council.
